Setting Goals: Discover your path...

"Discover the path" is not just the name of our company. It also represents the process of change that we hope to introduce into the lives of those who use our services.

"Discover the path....then make it new" is an anonymous quote taken from the realms of cyberspace. The tone of the message is synonomous with the heart, soul and philosophy of the company's founders. The words "discover the path" became our challenge: "Then make it new" became our goal.

"Discover the path" is about the challenge of learning who you are, your strengths and weaknesses. The goal is to identify personal and individual needs so that there can be a freedom of spirit. We are not achievement oriented. We are committed to the process of facilitating change.

Books, TV, and newspapers are filled with numerous articles, cartoons, quotes, and self help information that address those events which sap our vitality. It seems that we all get into ruts ....sometimes very deep ones. The human body has a remarkable ability to transcend the impact of falling into ruts....but not forever. Eventually the will to fight back can be overtaken. We become apathetic and lost, sometimes taking the easier, less fulfilling path.

How do you see your ruts in life? Are they a nuisance to be ignored or do you see an opportunity to learn, to gain insight and to grow spiritually? The problem is that we seldom seize the chance to learn. There will always be ruts that are traumatic and hauntingly tragic. They leave little room for hope. But, very often, hope lies on a different path or the same path with a new vision. In other words we may be required to make external changes, internal changes or both, frequently at the time when we least have the energy.

Where are you on your path? Here is a simple exercise that was suggested to me several years ago. Pick the most troubled and unfulfilled part of your life. It could be professionally, personally, romantically, or spiritually. Get a piece of paper and ask yourself the following questions writing your answers as honestly as you can.

  • If I only had seven years to live what would I most like to accomplish?
  • If I only had six years to live what would I most like to accomplish?
  • If I only had five years to live what would I most like to accomplish?
  • If I only had four years to live what would I most like to accomplish?
  • Continue until you reach one year to live.

  • Does anything there surprise you? Look closely at your answers. Picture yourself in the future and see whether or not your current path will help you to achieve your goals.

Thank you for your time spent at this site.
